227 Greek Islands
This is the ultimate question when planning an itinerary for Greece, what island do we choose?? We wanted to see the iconic Santorini and the beaches of Mykonos, but then we decided on a smaller Island for our last stop called Paros and we were so happy we did!
We landed on the Mainland of Athens before setting off in ferries for the Islands. Athens was a quick stop, but we found the cutest Airbnb in the park. We only had time for dinner at Savva before we set off for Santorini the next day.
Santorini
Santorini was stunning, from the Airbnb to the views. We wanted to be outside the touristy area so we found the most gorgeous town, Pyrgos to stay in. Our suite had its own kitchen, jacuzzi and two bedrooms with balconies. The common area had an infinity pool that overlooked the island. We even made friends with the kitties - yes we may have fed them and brought them in, but they were just so cute!! Our first night we stayed in town and tried Cava Alta for dinner - try the Ouzo as its a cultural ritual to drink during the afternoon or evening meals.
Our second day consisted of the most amazing yacht cruise with some other visitors! We met some amazing people from Germany on our excursion around Santorini and even stopped at Santo winery later that night to try some Greek wine tastings with a stunning sunset overlooking the sea. Pyrgos Village was our last stop of the night for a late night dinner in some cute cabanas.
Our third day we trekked into Oia to see the views, homes and shops! We walked up to the Byzantine Castle Ruins, domes and church bells which were so pretty to see. We took the day walking all over the town and finally made our way to Anogi Santorini in a taxi for dinner (make reservations if you don’t want to wait), but the food was absolutely amazing!
Mykonos
Our second island we went to was Mykonos, with yet another beautiful Airbnb overlooking the sea! Another infinity pool and this room was in a cave with a pretty balcony. Our first night there we made friends with the bar-man and he took us under his wing to the Clubs on the beach below- He was our Greek dad yelling at guys to stay away from us LOL, which we highly appreciated as people on the island can be quite aggressive (so everyone please stay alert at all times if you decide on a night out!)
Our second day on the island we relaxed by the beach below before heading into the town and went to some more shops and site seeing. I found the cutest one-of-a-kind mosaic purse, which many shops around the town had. I love that every purse was different and so unique!
Our last island we stopped on was Paros - we came in the off season which was so lovely since it wasn’t very crowded and we could explore the town of Naoussa. We stopped at Fotis Art Cafe for breakfast and then went to Piperi Beach for a quick dip in the water before walking around the winding cobblestone streets and marina. The next day we made our way back to Athens for the flight home to Philly.
