Day Trip to Nantucket
Nantucket has to be one of my favorite places I have visited. To the cedar cottages and blooming floral branches around the island, it is the perfect summer getaway… even just for a day. To get on the Island you will have to take the ferry, boat or a tiny plane! And once on the island I recommend either a bike or scooter rental if you want easy and fast access to any beaches around the whole Island. There are also car rentals if you plan to stay longer and need the room.
In the town of Nantucket by the marina there are so many great options for shopping and restaurants! Here are some places to check out:
Restuarants
Crowds flock to this unassuming depot for homemade ice cream & waffle cones plus healthy juice
Stylish hot spot, right on the water, offers expansive raw bar options & cooked seafood fare
100% feel-good pizza. Light avocado oil crust. Thoughtfully sourced ingredients
Seasonal seafood standby serving burgers, sandwiches & cocktails in comfy digs
Straight Wharf Restaurant's offshoot breakfast & lunch cafe known for legendary turkey sandwich
Shops
The Shops on Old South Wharf: The Skinny Dip, Icarus + C°, but honestly check them all out, the whole strip is very cool
Check out the Main Street as well for some more shopping…too many goodies to list, they are all great to look through
After making our way around the Main Street, we headed out on our scooter to Dionis Beach for a bit, we really just wanted to scoot around the Island and see all the views we could! Every home has a name which I loved as well, if you look closely above or near the front door you can see the names of the homes. After the Beach we made our way East to the most picturesque village of Siasconset where the Sconset Foot Bridge to Sconset Beach is located.
Close by is The Sconset Market for some snacks, souvenirs and ice cream. Be sure to load up on those snacks and make your way to the scenic Sconset Bluff Walk. The public path cuts through some of the most gorgeous properties that makes its way up to the Sankaty Head Lighthouse, if you want to see the beautiful views of these lavish beach front homes, definitely check out this two miles hike!
